OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Health, a dedicated space within ChatGPT designed to provide users with health and wellness support while keeping health data separate from standard chats. The feature is available on Web and iOS, with Android support coming soon. Users with Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans in supported countries (excluding the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK) can sign up to access the feature.
ChatGPT Health allows users to ask health-related questions and optionally connect health data sources such as Medical Records (EHR, U.S. only), Apple Health, and third-party wellness apps including Peloton, MyFitnessPal, Function, Instacart, AllTrails, and Weight Watchers. Health chats, connected files, and memories remain isolated from other ChatGPT conversations and are not used to train OpenAI’s foundation models.
Medical Records integration, powered by b.well, lets U.S. users sync clinical information such as lab results, visit summaries, and health history. Apple Health data can include movement, sleep, and activity patterns, while third-party wellness apps can provide personalized recommendations like workout guidance, nutrition suggestions, and meal planning assistance. Users have full control over which data is shared and can disconnect apps or delete Health data at any time.
Health conversations support features like file uploads, voice mode, dictation, and web search, and users can customize responses using Health-specific instructions. While Health can reference context from main chats when relevant, information from Health never flows back into standard ChatGPT conversations, ensuring strict separation of personal health data.
OpenAI emphasizes privacy and security, requiring third-party apps to meet strict standards and allowing users to manage Health memories and connected data at any time. Health also supports optional multi-factor authentication for added account security
